⮚ RE-LAND Project – Foundation
Resilient landscapes
The first research project for the REDI consortium (Reducing risks of natural Disasters), a research consortium established in Camerino after the earthquake of Central Italy 2016, with the aim of contributing to interdisciplinary research-actions, through innovation and training, to boost community disaster preparedness, response and recovery speed
REDI was founded by 4 Italian research centers:
INGV (IstitutoNazionaledi Vulcanologiae Geologia);
INFN (IstitutoNazionaledi FisicaNucleare);
GSSI (Gran SassoScience Institute);
UNICAM (UniversitàdegliStudidi Camerino).
⮚ RELAND Project – Scope
Earthquakes in central Italy
Observation
in the phases of emergency and recovery
⮚ RELAND Project – Objectives
Project objectives
⮚ RELAND Project – Methodology
The transfer of lessons learned, best practices, expertise and skills capitalizes on existing research initiatives for disaster risk reduction
(1) Identification of the required knowledge and expertise
(2) Survey on how to make interact communities,
scientists and decision makers
(3) Lessons learned and good practices (from the USA)
(4) Identification of virtuous methods of interaction
between different expertise/competencies
(5) Co-design, with the communities, and pilot
implementation of the methods
(6) Assessment and benchmarking of the methods
(7) Adjustment of the methods
(8) Communication and dissemination
⮚ RELAND Project – Activities
The work for the first year (2019) has been mainly a theoretical one,
in view and preparation of tackling the case study of Central Italy,
which will be the content of the work for the second year (2020).
